Navigator Leads Record RDI Sales |
RD Instruments
Inc, USA, had record sales in September of 64 standard items. Leading these
was the RDI Workhorse Navigator Doppler Velocity Log (DVL). This is now fitted
to over 80 per cent of the world's fleet of AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles)
and to over 100 ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles).
The instrument
is also used to position sonar and other towfish and in dredge plume and
sediment tracking operations. The RDI Workhorse Navigator DVL is available
in three frequencies - 1200kHz, 600kHz and 300kHz - and operates between
0.5m and 200m above the seafloor with a depth rating of 2000m standard, 6000m
optional.

| Tidewater
to Purchase Eight Vessels From Sanko |
Tidewater Inc.
(NYSE:TDW - news) announced October 19 that it has entered into an agreement
to purchase eight vessels from The Sanko Steamship Co., Ltd. for $160 million
in cash. Four of the vessels are large anchor-handling, towing supply boats,
each with a total horsepower of 15,000 bhp; the remaining four vessels are
large North Sea type platform supply vessels. All eight of the vessels were
built by Norwegian shipyards within the last two years. The anticipated closing
of the transaction will be mid to late November 2000. .
All of the vessels
are being purchased subject to existing charter arrangements previously entered
into by Sanko. The charter agreements extend out for various periods of up
to three years and include additional option periods that can be exercised
by the charterers.

The "American
Association of Chartered Surveyors" - The AACS National Meeting will occur
on Monday October 30, 2000 in San Franciso. This annual meeting is open to
all members of RICS.

Technology Buys Response Rentals... |
Ashtead Technology
Ltd., international survey and inspection equipment rental specialists and
member of Ashtead Group plc, recently announced the acquisition of Response
Rentals for $5.8 million in cash. Response Rentals operate four branches
across North America and are an environmental equipment hire business supplying
portable test and measurement instruments to environmental scientists, consulting
engineers, safety managers and industrial hygienists.
Andy Holroyd, senior
vice president of Ashtead Technology Inc., in Houston, has taken the position
of president of Response
Rentals.
