| BP And
Shell To Build Ultra-Deepwater Pipeline In Gulf Of Mexico |
Construction
plans have been announced for a $150-million pipeline project to gather natural
gas from offshore fields in the ultra-deepwater Gulf of Mexico production
area. The 100-mile Okeanos gas pipeline will have a capacity of at least
1 billion cubic feet of gas per day and will be the first Gulf of Mexico
gas pipeline built to operate in water depths in excess of 6,000 feet, making
it the deepest gas gathering system in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Okeanos Gas
Gathering Company will be owned two-thirds by BP and one-third by Shell Gas
Transmission. The Okeanos gas pipeline will be built in two phases. Shell
Gas Transmission will serve as construction manager for the first segment,
which will consist of a 74-mile, 24-inch diameter pipeline to gather gas
produced from the Shell and BP "Na Kika'' project. Na Kika is under development
by Shell about 150 miles southeast of New Orleans. The project consists of
the subsea development of six individual fields tied back to the Gulf of
Mexico's deepest permanently moored semi-submersible development and production
system, operating in a water depth of 6,350 feet. Construction of the first
segment of the Okeanos pipeline will be completed in time for the 2003 start-up
of the Na Kika fields, and will be another milestone in Shell's history of
deepwater accomplishments.
The second phase,
for which BP will act as construction manager, will consist of a 26-mile
segment to connect the BP and Exxon "Crazy Horse'' field to the Okeanos gas
pipeline near Na Kika. Construction on this segment will be completed in
time for the start-up of the Crazy Horse field. The Crazy Horse field is
the largest oil and gas discovery in the Gulf of Mexico and will be operated
by BP. For the complete press visit:

Enercon Engineering
Inc. has a strong track record in the Gulf of Mexico. Since its inception

GPS Accuracy Betters 2 Meters With New Upgrades |
SANTA CLARA,
Calif., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Magellan Corporation, originators of the first
GPS handheld, announced today its first shipment of upgraded GPS receivers
offering accuracy of better than three meters. Selected Magellan handhelds
now feature Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) technology that improves
positioning accuracy. Factory-installed WAAS capabilities are available in
the MAP 330M(TM) and the MAP 330(TM), which is also contained in the MAP
330X(TM) bundled package. At no additional cost, customers who previously
purchased these products can upgrade their receivers to obtain this improved
level of accuracy by downloading free software from
http://www.magellangps.com.
WAAS, developed
by the United States government, calculates errors in the GPS signal then
transmits correction messages to WAAS-capable GPS receivers. Upgraded Magellan
receivers provide higher accuracy, not only from WAAS signals, but also when
receiving correction signals from the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay
System (EGNOS), which covers Europe. Additionally, projected specifications
for the forthcoming Multifunctional Transport Satellite-based Augmentation
System (MSAS) for Asia suggest that upgraded Magellan receivers will work
with this system as well. As a result, Magellan customers will gain better
than three-meter positioning accuracy throughout much of the world.
Magellan customers
do not need special equipment to take advantage of the increased accuracy
because WAAS uses the same frequency as the standard GPS signal. However,
only Magellan's newer GPS receivers have adequate memory capacity to add
the WAAS software. Customers can obtain free and easy upgrades by downloading
the software to their MAP 330 or MAP 330M from the product support section
at http://www.magellangps.com. For
upgrade assistance or technical support, call Magellan's toll-free help line
at 866-737-8604. For the complete press release,

| Phillips
And BP Announce New Kuparuk Satellite |
ANCHORAGE,
Alaska--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2001--Phillips Alaska, Inc., a wholly owned
subsidiary of Phillips Petroleum Company (NYSE: P), and BP Exploration (Alaska)
Inc. today announced a discovery that extends the Kuparuk oil field on Alaska's
North Slope to the west. This Kuparuk accumulation is estimated to contain
an additional 35 million barrels of recoverable reserves.
The exploration
well, Palm No.1, discovered 30 feet of oil-saturated Kuparuk formation sandstone
at approximately 5,800 feet sub-sea. A sidetrack well, Palm No.1A, tested
at an unstimulated rate of about 2,500 barrels per day of 26-degree API gravity
oil. The Palm accumulation is located about three miles west of the Kuparuk
field in the Greater Kuparuk Area. The Palm discovery will be developed as
an extension of the Kuparuk field by expanding the existing Kuparuk Participating
Area and Kuparuk River Unit. Production from the satellite field, which is
expected to begin in 2003, will be processed through existing Kuparuk field
facilities. Phillips expects this discovery will help the company meet its
stated objective of keeping its Alaska production between 375,000 and 400,000
barrels of oil equivalent per day for the next several years.
Kuparuk, which
began production in 1981, is the second-largest oil field in North America.
The Greater Kuparuk Area, which includes four satellite fields, currently
produces approximately 225,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Phillips
Alaska, operator of the Kuparuk field, holds a 55.29 percent interest; BP
Exploration holds a 39.28 percent interest; and Unocal, ExxonMobil and Chevron
each hold minor interests.
Phillips Petroleum
Company is an integrated oil company with interests around the world.
Headquartered in Bartlesville, Okla., the company had 12,200 employees, $20.7
billion of assets and $19.6 billion of annualized revenues as of March 31,
2001. For a map of the North Slope fields, go to
